Pissaro - Pont Boieldieu in Rouen, Rainy Weather

Port Boieldieu in Rouen, Rainy Weather is an 1896 painting by Camille  Pissaro in the collection of the Art Gallery of Ontario. It is one of a series of painting Pissarro spent time in Reuen in 1896 seeking to paint the industrial modernity of the area. He had earlier made a trip in 1883, and did one series  of images of the city then. On his 1896 he stayed at the Hotel de Paris in Rouen, form January to April 1896, and it is in this period that his painting was made. His room overlooked the Seine. and it is from this vantage point that it is painted.

Manga Coloring

I used to CG trace my pictures, but I have found that that takes too long, and that it is easier just to use an inked sketch. Once you have decided what picture you want to color, retrace the image onto a clean piece of paper and carefully ink it. It usually helps to use big paper and thin pens, so you can get a really crisp, thin outline. If you mess up the inking, you can clean it up with whiteout or by fixing it in Photoshop. Erase any extra pencil lines and get the inked outline as clean as possible. If you don't like inking pictures, you can try using just pencil. It is possible to get clean pencil lines that work as well as inked lines, if you adjust the brightness/contrast properly. Scan the outline and load it into Photoshop. Make sure your outline is in RGB mode before you continue. To put your outline in RGB mode, go to the Image menu on the top bar, then Mode, and RGB Color.

A lot of people like to keep the outline on the bottom of the picture, and then color on top using layers set to "Multiply". Now, there is nothing wrong with this, and it can work very well, but unfortunatly if you do it this way, you have no way to color the outline. Adding color to the outline can give your picture a nice touch. In order to do this, though, you have to make the outline transparent, which will allow you to color beneath it just as if you put the outline on a sheet of transparency paper)

View of Toledo, is one of the two landscapes painted by El Greco. The other, called View and Plan of Toledo lies at Museo Del Greco, Toledo, Spain.

Along with Vincent Van Gogh's The Starry Night. some landscapes by William Turner, and some works by Monet, it is among the best known depictions of the sky in Western art, and features sharp color contrast between the sky and the hills below. Painted in a Mannerist ( or Baroque ) stayle, the work takes liberties with the actual layout of Toledo (some buildings are depicted in different possitions that their actual location, but truthfully depicts on the side the Castle of San Servando). It is signed on the lower right corner by El Greco.
